What Others Are Saying

My journey began on April 29th, 2014.  I walked into Ken’s house, ready to give it my best shot, but thinking in the back of my mind, how long will I last working out this time? A week? Two weeks? My confidence was low and I was really only there because I convinced myself to “make an effort”. I stepped on the scale and I saw 316lbs – The most I have ever weighed.

Of course I knew why.  A steady diet of fast food and pizza every night, mixed with laying on the couch watching TV and my friend Dan working out, was not the best diet.  Seeing that weight embarrassed me and lit a fire under me.  When I saw that my mind immediately thought of all the times my roommate and I would be out and a good looking girl would walk by and she would look at him up and down.  They always find him attractive and understandably as he is in much better shape than I am.  Seeing that happen just about every day and the thought of any situation where I have to take off my shirt, or the thought of Christmas, when I get clothes and people want me to try them on.  The fear that they won’t fit, the embarrassment.  All of these emotions ran through me when I saw 316lbs.

Ken approached me and asked if I would like for him to be my personal trainer.  With that fire lit inside me I gladly said yes.  The pressure was now on me to succeed.  I knew that I could go to the workouts, the issue was eating healthy.  Well I am here to say that eating healthy has not been an issue for me.  That is because Ken makes me want to succeed and if I have a slip up on a weekend where I have a cheat meal and come back weighing a pound or two heavier, he doesn’t scold me or belittle me.  We laugh about it and we work harder to get it off. I couldn’t be happier with my journey so far.  My confidence is back in myself, I feel healthier and one of the biggest successes for me is my endurance.  Before I started this, any cardio at all for more than a few seconds and I would be gasping for air, trying not to puke.  Now I can bike 3 miles and be ready for more.  At only a little over 2 months into my weight loss journey and I was proud to say that I have lost 45lbs.  Now at just over 1 year I am down 100 lbs.  Thank you Ken for continuing to push me and make me healthier!

Ken Green offers a free workout and fitness assessment., so I gave it a try. Ken took the time to assess my fitness level, discuss goals and develop a plan. I felt like he genuinely wanted me to be successful, whether I signed up or not.

Ken always challenges me and without pushing to a point where I just want to give up.  He also keeps me informed about nutrition and different foods to try.  With Ken’s help I am already seeing results and my Doctor has taken me off one of my Diabetic medications and lowered the dosage on the other.  I am finally on my way to a better me!

I am a therapist who believes in a holistic approach to treatment.  I believe that exercise and healthy eating help create a more positive outlook on life.I believe that exercise helps improve your brain power as well. I try to practice what I “preach” to my clients.

I started with Ken as my personal trainer in December.  Ken has been positive and enthusiastic about my workouts which increase my energy level.  He is always looking for new ways for me to exercise and meet my goals.  He is reasonable with the exercises so that I can fully invest in the workouts and feel good rather than exhausted when I finish, but he gently pushes me to improve on my personal best.

Ken accommodates my busy schedule so I am able to get my workouts at a convenient time.  Ken also gives nutritional advice.  He suggests food and snacks that will help my energy and weight loss, he even provides them so I get to try them out.

In addition, Ken sends me texts during the day either with homework reminders or motivational texts.  He is also very affordable.  Honestly he is the best trainer ever and a very nice person.  I can whole heartedly recommend him as a personal trainer.

When I first contacted Ken Green of The Green Verve a little over a year ago, I felt hopeless and helpless.  I had been overweight for over 30 years and for the most part fairly inactive.  I have osteo-arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and have had over 16 surgeries, including four hip replacements, two knee replacements, two shoulder replacements, and three back procedures including a total fusion of my lumbar spine.  At one point, I had even checked myself into an Eating Disorder Unit at a local St. Louis hospital.  I could not stand or walk for more than ten minutes, and i did the stairs putting each foot on one step before proceeding to the next one.  If I got down on the floor, I could not get back up without help or something to grab onto.  Ken told me that if I was willing to work with him to get better, he would be willing to do what he could to help me improve.

I started meeting with Ken two times per week, gradually working up to three and most recently 4 sessions per week.  I will not try to tell you “it is a piece of cake”, but I can tell you it has been worth all the “blood, sweat and tears” that i have put into it.  I never missed any appointments with Ken, and I always tried to follow his direction and suggestions.

Presently, I have lost significant weight and inches off my entire body…I will not divulge how much because that is really not the point, although I am absolutely thrilled with the progress.  Most importantly, I have gained self esteem, found discipline, accountability, affirmation, strength, range of motion, flexibility, and balance.  I am happier and more involved with life than I have ever been.  I look forward to playing with my four precious granddaughters.  I swim laps, do pull-ups, push-ups, and tread water 5 days per week.  I just recently completed my first 5K in my lifetime and climb stairs easier than and can get up from the floor on a regular basis with new strength.  Am I happy I called Ken Green, you bet I am!!!  In addition to all of my amazing accomplishments, I have learned and now know one of the nicest, sweetest, gentlest, funniest, most devoted guys you would ever have the pleasure of meeting.  Get YOUR Verve on !!!!
